Why do Mondays always roll around so much faster than Fridays!? Since there seems to be no stopping this whole Monday thing, I’ve decided to take on the whole if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em type mindset. It’s way better sailing into Monday thinking of it as a fresh start with tons of opportunity as opposed to just the end of your weekend. So, in the spirit of embracing Mondays, here are a few of my favorite links that I turn to when I need a little inspiration; anything from recipes and design to community and laughs. Hope you enjoy! http://tiffanithiessen.com/ I LOVE Tiffani Thiessan. I’ve been a big fan ever since her Kelly Kapowski days on Saved By The Bell and now I’m an even bigger fan. I’m totally hooked on her new show, Dinner at Tiffanis! Her blog offers recipes, design ideas, ways to entertain and snapshots of her life. http://www.thehonesttoddler.com/?m=1 I’m obsessed with The Honest Toddler anything! I follow her on every facet of social media. Her hilarious take on parenthood keeps me going throughout the day. http://www.scarymommy.com/about-scary-mommy/ Scary Mommy is a blog written by a slew of super funny and talented mothers. Their spot on take on motherhood makes me feel a little less crazy 😜 http://cupcakesandcashmere.com/ When I have a little free time I like reading this blog so I feel like I’m somewhat caught up on the latest fashion and trends. Recently, I was in desperate need for new makeup so I looked […]
Is there anything more annoying that the term “swimsuit ready”? What exactly does that mean, anyway? Aren’t we all technically swimsuit ready? I mean, if you have a body and you own a swimsuit, you are, by default, swimsuit ready. But this is the bull that women constantly have to listen to, making us feel like we’re not swimsuit ready. Or, at least, not swimsuit ready enough. For whom? I don’t know. I guess for everyone? I never got the memo.
I came across an article via the NYTimes called the Secret to Happiness. If you have the time, it’s a good read. But generally speaking, it’s all the same things we’ve heard before: simplify, buy less, live more, lighten up, unplug, drink vegetables, and so it goes. No arguments on any of the above but not exactly groundbreaking. One thing did stick out to me, though, and that was the suggestion that we should all pick a “uniform” of sorts. After all, Steve Jobs wore a black turtleneck and blue jeans every day and he’s a legend. Of course, he was Silicon Valley technerd-supergenius billionaire. So, there’s that. You can get away with a lot of things normal people can’t when you’re even half of those things. Hell, even just one of those things. Women don’t exactly have the option to pair down their wardrobe, especially in the workplace. Or do we?
All in all, I really enjoyed them this year. Probably, better than any other year despite some blow-your-mind type moments. One moment blowing my mind is seeing Warren Beatty at almost 80. Wtf? The other, of course, being the Best Picture debacle.
Wondering what you’re going to wear for Thanksgiving? If you’re like me, you have a visual of standing around the kitchen with your family, drinking martinis, looking like Grace Kelly. But if you’re also like me, you know the reality is probably something more like a mom bun and an itchy dress you forgot to have drycleaned. Honestly, thought of having to wear pants with a zipper or freakin’ pantyhose makes me want to cancel Thanksgiving all together. After minimal sleep, wrangling kids and getting them ready, cleaning, and cooking, most moms know that our appearances are the first to suffer. So, here are 12 amazing outfits from around the internet that you can use for inspiration for how to dress on Thanksgiving while being comfortable and still looking fabulous. You can also shut your leggings-aren’t-pants-swearing aunt down once and for all.
So, here I am with only a couple of weeks left until my little one is set to arrive! It has taken forever to get here and now it feels like everything is suddenly moving at lighting speed!
Could there be a more perfect time to be pregnant!? I’m eating candy for two, bi*%hes!! Here’s a few quick and easy costume ideas for those of you with buns in your ovens!
At almost 33 weeks, time seems to be both flying by and dragging on at an excruciating rate. On one hand, it is hard to believe our baby girl will be here in just a few weeks and on the other, I feel as though I have been pregnant for a year! To help manage my anxious excitement, I find myself preparing and then over-preparing. Last night, I packed my hospital bag and things started feeling real!
I’m just gonna say it. I have serious messy bun deficiency. And it’s not for a lack of trying. I’ve tried and I’ve tried so many times, so many ways. And yet, I still end up looking like Mrs. Trunchbull from Matilda. HELP!
We have finally been blessed with some pretty awesome neighbors! I grew up in a neighborhood where we were more like a family rather than neighbors. Kids were constantly running the streets, parents were always together and you could go to a neighbor’s house for anything from a basketball to a loaf of bread.
