Sorry, dads. We know you’re just as good in the kitchen as any of us. It was a cheap shot. Mother’s Day is creeping up fast (isn’t everything?). And I know way too many moms who are always involved in their own Mother’s Day plans, cooking, and shopping because our partners are busy, too, and kids can’t do it themselves. But, let’s face it. It’s not really the Mother’s Day we hope for when we’re cooking or doing the dishes. So, I’m just going to write this post and if you just so happen to leave this screen open where your partner and/or kids can see it, so be it. Mother’s Day brunch doesn’t have to be something out of a Martha Stewart magazine. Seriously. Most of us are just happy to have a meal made for us and not be responsible for the clean up. Really, anything you do for mom IS nice and very much appreciated. That being said, if it’s more than a bowl of Cheerios, even better! So here are some really easy breakfast in bed ideas that our significant others and older kids can handle and help the younger kids with. Bacon & Egg Cups These are ridiculously simple and can be prepped the night before. Spray a muffin pan with nonstick spray, line each cup with a few slices of turkey bacon, crack an egg in the cup, add a dash of salt and pepper. Cover and refrigerate if making the night before. […]
Turkey Chili By: Danny ( my beautiful chef of a husband) Note: My husband is an excellent cook! Excellent. He spends hours upon hours in the kitchen making sure the flavors are perfection. I would argue any day of the week that cooking is one of his great passions in life and he would argue that feeding his family is his real passion. We could both settle the argument by saying both are true but we are both too stubborn for that;) The passion he has in the kitchen is something to watch! So, this is not a recipe for the quick and easy weekday meal. This is one to take your time with over the course of a Sunday. But I promise you, it is worth every second! Delicious! Hope you enjoy:)
Total time: 20 minutes. Eat now. Thank me later.
Okay, Mardi Gras is in zero percent trouble. But, still. I know I’ve started off every week this year saying that I’m going to pull in the reigns on the junk food and yet somehow something magically pops up- holidays, birthdays, This Is Us devastation. So, I’ll take any healthier alternative I can get my hands on because, yes, in a perfect world, I would just munch on my kale chips and smile. But it’s Mardi Gras and I’M NOT MADE OF STONE. Go super healthy with a berry-on-the-bottom, green-on-the-top smoothie. Make a cheese and fruit plate with the traditional Mardi Gras color palette. Find out how to make this awesome-looking Mardi Gras slaw on The Runaway Spoon. Using pretzel squares, melted Hershey Kisses, and Easter-themed M&M’s in green, purple, and gold to get these nibblets. Or, using white chocolate, coat a traditionally shaped hard pretzel and cover it in sprinkles just like a proper king cake. Once you have kids, Mardi Gras is never really what it used to be. And if you’re like me, that’s a really good thing because … well, I’m just happy I dodged all the Girls Gone Wild cameras is all I’m gonna say. These days, it’s as PG as possible and I’d have it no other way. Happy Mardi Gras <3
It’s National Margarita Day! Pull out the blender, call up some friends with kids, and get to mixing.
My favorite time of year is here and…I’M STILL PREGNANT!! While I am oh so grateful this little one is still baking in my oven, I had really thought I’d be toting her in one hand and a glass of red wine in the other come Thanksgiving Day.
‘Twas the night before Thanksgiving and all through the house, not a creature was stirring… until we realized we forgot to defrost the turkey!
I love lasagna but rarely have enough time to prep and cook to be able to enjoy it regularly. But then I uncovered a secret that the world has been keeping from me for I-don’t-know-how-long and everything has changed.
I posted my inspiration board yesterday for our annual Halloween get together and today you have the results.
Happy Halloween! Today, I am going to share my inspiration board for tonight’s get together and tomorrow I will share pictures of the real deal! Pinterest is famous for making us all feel like entertaining goddesses who can conquer the crafting universe with one cute photo! I know that’s why I love it. But, often times I am left wondering what the hell I did differently than creativemommy.whatever because my homemade gift looks less like a mason jar full of perfectly homemade sugar scrub and more like a jar full of dirt. So, for the sake of keeping it real, tomorrow I will share with all of you my wins and misses of tonight’s Halloween extravaganza! Below is my inspiration board:
